Summer in January

Summer here in the mid-west has been over for months now, and many of us are feeling just a little blah... The beautiful sun-kissed glow on the skin has long ago faded. We all know how horrible the effects of UV rays from the sun can be. Even tanning beds hold risks of developing skin cancer.

For years, I baked my skin in the sun for the sake of "beauty." I even doused myself in baby oil as a teenager! The number of burns I sustained as a fair skinned, "toe-head" should have been enough to make me consider sunscreen. (for those of you unfamiliar with "toe-head" it is WHITE blond hair... never knew why it was called this) I still continued baking myself in the sun until my early 40's. (some people just don't learn) After realizing that I could end up looking like an old leather shoe, I stopped...

Going from a nice bronze-brown color to PALE, was an adjustment. Considering the health risks and the notion of looking much older than my age, I accepted the "paleness".

Sunless tanning products... now that was an option! I had tried several, only to discover embarrassing streaking and odd color changes. Pumpkin orange... doesn't look good on anyone! From the cheap drug store brands (sometimes NOT cheap!) to the more expensive brands, I still never found anything that worked for me. My natural skin tone is so light, that all of the products looked grossly artificial. (Not the look I was going for)

Not long ago, I found an amazing product that works for me! Votre Vu "Self Preservation Bronzer" is blended with botanical moisturizers to give you a natural looking tan worthy of exotic destinations.
